Date: Sat, 22 Jan 2000 08:38:01 -0600 I'm sorry it had to happen to you, Ms Billiot, but what you need to realize is that all the evidence was pointing to your son. I really do feel for you but think of how his wife,Tammy, and her two sons feel. At least you get to see your son again, but Tammy won't see her beloved husband and his two sons will never see their daddy again. What sickens me the most is the people who say that it's the DA's and the Sheriffs Office fault because he was railroaded. Maybe the evidence was shaky, but just an accusation will not send your son to prison for life, its the jury of his peers that convicts him that will send your son to prison for life. To answer your question about why he turned himself in, he did that so it would look like he didn't kill the deputy. I have to hand it to you, he's a smart kid. He knows his way around the law. And if his statement he gave to the Sheriffs Office was right then that sickens me even more. How could anyone turn around to see someone die without helping him even if it were his enemy? Even so, if he is innocent of First Degree Murder he would have at least gotten manslaughter because of the law of if a police officer dies while in pursuit then it would be manslaughter. He would have faced alot of jail time anyhow. You could keep trying but I don't think it will work. Another thing you have to think about is the many men and women that worked with Dy Theriot that will never see his face again. I know for a fact that the closeness of the deputies is astounding due to the fact that they are each other's life line. Its like a brotherhood within. I just think that if it were your son that was the deputy you would think differently. JUSTICE HAS ALREADY BEEN SERVED.
